Good Hair Day

I took Grace to get her hair done today. It was great because the lady showed me how to "properly" condition Grace's hair and how to "properly" comb it! I am white. I did not grow up with this type of hair so I had no clue. I felt like an educated woman after the appointment. And now Grace's hair is so cute and looks soooooo much better!!!

She looks so sweet and girlie! I'm glad you're now properly educated... I never thought of the hair issues!

When we were about to adopt while we were in Germany, the adoption facilitator was interviewing us and asked if we would mind another ethnicity. I said no, but then he asked aobut the hair question and Matt replied "she can't even do her daughters hair! There is no way she could manage a different texture :)" Jokingly of course. Glad to hear the hair issue is solved, yeah mommy!!!

I am glad that you got a chance to do that! First of all she get a chance to be pampered and there's nothing better than having more hair knowledge. It's just too bad you guys don't live here anymore, I would've done it for you....give me some practice before my daughter gets to that stage.

Yeah for you to go out and get advice and be taught! You have to take care of their hair a certain way or it gets really fragil and it will be ruined for a long time. But in todays age (i think I said that right! lol) there are so many products out there and tips for cute styles that will make your precious even more precious...if that is possible!

So educate me. How should I be conditioning and combing Emily's hair (that is if it ever grows back after I shaved it off)?

She is soooo cute! You can actually check out videos at your library on how to do African American little girls' hair. I have heard there are some great ideas. My friend only does her kids' hair once a week with clear rubber bands and just changes the ribbons/bows each day to match outfits. I thought that was a great idea! Good luck!
